How To Play

Fantasy Brawls Chess adopts most of your standard chess moves. Pawns only move a space at a time, bishops stick to their color, and so on. The twist is that each piece, like in Fantasy Brawls, has a signature move that you can use one or twice per match, depending on the piece. If you want another tactical mode after this one, you can also fight epic boss battles in the 3v1 mode.

  • Ark is the king. Lose your king to checkmate and the match ends immediately.
  • Frostback serves as knight, Zaptor as rook, and Darkbeak as bishop by default.
  • Each side can draft a full 8-slot pawn lineup before the game starts.
  • Bishops can use `Banish` twice per side. It removes any enemy non-king, non-queen target from anywhere on the board, but the caster's side loses its next turn.
  • Knights use `Ambush` once per side to capture any enemy within a two-square radius.
  • Rooks use `Rail Shot` once per side to capture any enemy on the same rank or file.
  • Queens use `Apex Strike` once per side to capture any enemy on the same rank, file, or diagonal.
  • Kings cannot be targeted by signature powers. Queens are immune to Banish, but they can still be captured by normal movement or other signature strikes.
  • Use `Hot Seat` for local two-player matches or `Vs Computer` if you want the AI to control black.
